If only we could have such package deals!
I have to tell this story as it’s just so cute.
My young nephew is at school and just soaking all the learning up.
His little sister can’t wait to get to school either and is watching her brother’s every move and every activity, as 2nd and 3rd children do.
One afternoon they both came home from a visit to the library – books galore in their library bags and great excitement waiting to take the first one out.
The little one attending school pulls out his first book and reads aloud. As he turns one of the pages his little sister asks mum, ‘when is it my turn?’ And of course she has to wait her turn.
Finally her brother’s reading ends and little Bridie pulls out her book in great anticipation.
She sits quietly for a moment and then bursts into tears –because she couldn’t read.
She thought that the ability to read went hand in hand with the borrowing of the book.
If only we could have such package deals!
