Bringing generations together
Marcy Place in Boronia has a fantastic program facilitating intergenerational playgroup and bringing senior citizens and young children together. The play group enjoys music, dance, games, and conversation.
Those who have experienced the playgroup express how the different generations encourage and learn from each other, and how it can benefit both groups.
Some other countries have taken the next step and include preschools within some nursing homes. Many Australian childcare centres are already seeing the benefits of such integrated facilities. So perhaps this is something that may be implemented in future.
