You can’t change the past

One should never get involved in politics or religion in a professional capacity.

I do however make comment from time to time on various issues on which there is public debate.

I’d like to think that my comments today transcend the no go zone however am willing to accept criticism.

The sexual abuse of children at the hands of adults is condemned by every person with a capacity to discern right from wrong. The sexual abuse of any vulnerable person is abhorrent.

And the papers are full of it this week.

Now that we have been confronted with this horrid discovery, it is at least positive that we are pursuing every detail of accountability to the very end – for every child or vulnerable person in the future, and for some attempt at peace for the current victims whose lives, and those of their families, have been ruined.

You can’t get a new life. You can’t change the past.

Yes, all the psychiatrists and psychologists say that you can learn to live with it. Maybe. Maybe not.

Things have changed and they will never be the same again; this is good. Now that we have hit rock bottom things can only be better going forward. That’s about the only positive in this ugly story.
