Power dads – juggling work and childcare

According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, 90% of dads with children under 15 are employed, compared to just 65% of mums. But the Financial Review shares some stories that reflect a growing trend. More dads are taking on childcare roles, balancing tasks such as meals and the school rush, with work and careers.

Caring for children requires excellent time management, and these dads prove it’s possible to maintain a career on this schedule. Commonwealth Bank of Australia’s Senior Executive, Mark Worthington, shares how his car has become an office, utilising driving time to make work calls. Lion’s CEO, Stuart Irvine, gets up at 5 am so he can do some work before the kids are awake.

This rising population of super dads is evident. More dads are taking advantage of flexible work hours to spend more time at home. The number of dads working from home to care for their children doubled from 7% to 14% in recent years!
