A new TV series for the hearing impaired children of Australia!

Children’s television programs are entertaining, but they are also deigned to help children learn and engage. Many children rely on the use of Australian Sign Language (AUSLAN) as their primary mode of communication. So thankfully, a 30 episode children’s series currently in production will help cater to hearing impaired children.

‘Sally and the Possum’ will be the first Australian television series designed to help children who are deaf or hard of hearing develop literacy, numeracy and communication skills. Care for Kids outlines the project and what it hopes to achieve. The series will use engaging play based learning techniques, and also includes voiceover, enabling others to follow the story as well.

This type of innovation opens new opportunities and experiences to hearing impaired children. It offers a tailored viewing and learning experience, which they may be missing from regular children’s programming.
